Enjoy Life, and Appreciate Each Moment
Time goes by fast so strive to enjoy all the things you can throughout your life.

It seems the older you get, the quicker the seasons come and go. It doesn’t seem that long ago when we were putting things away and beginning to think of the leaves falling. We were preparing for the end of going to the Farmer’s Markets until Spring returned. Now, here it is, Spring is gone, and June is already here, and my gardenias are in bloom.
This year I have discovered, whether I want to admit it or not, no one gets to escape from the aging process. I certainly haven’t had anything to complain about. I have always been able to spring back when I’ve been sick. As a matter of fact, until this last Fall, it had been three years since I had really been sick.
One thing I have found out is this, just because you want something to happen, doesn’t mean it’s going to be realized. I can do everything that I’m supposed to do, but like the tomato plant that is planted in the perfect place, if the weather is crummy, I may not get the tomato crop I want.
Yes, as I look at the flowers, and listen to the song of the birds in my neighbor’s yard, I think of how fast time has gone by. I also think of how fortunate I have been to have my health, and I realize that the chance to laugh with my Grandchildren, bake in the kitchen, and enjoy a romantic Valentine’s Day with my husband are the things that make life rich and full. I am grateful for these simple blessings and appreciate their value. I strive to put as many of them as possible into my life while I have the opportunity to do so.
Your perspective on life is very important. Life is always better when you view it as a cup half full as opposed to one that is half empty. I certainly don’t believe anyone gets to go through life without some low times. I am simply saying you must eventually get up out of the dirt, dust your pants off and return to living life.
To anyone who has children in your life, one of the most important things you can do is teach them, whether as an aunt or uncle, or as your children and Grandchildren. Teach them to enjoy themselves and have some fun. Help them recognize that if they do not look at the flowers, they will have a difficult time smelling the sweet fragrance of Spring. It is important to teach them how to laugh at their mistakes and to not take themselves too seriously.
It is important for each of us to enjoy life and the time that we are given. I think one of the reasons a person who keeps a daily journal has a sense of contentment is related to the fact that their written words are a testament to what they have done and achieved.

I can attest to the fact that even a calendar lets you see what took all your time during a particular period. My husband has always been very diligent with jotting in his daily calendar book, short statements of what happens. We have looked over the calendar at the end of a week, or month or year, and it is very telling for what you have spent your time on.
Summer is here again so take advantage of it. Be involved and productive. Make something of each day, week, and month. Remember to recognize that life is only as rich and fulfilling as you allow it to be. Just something to think about. Until later...Colleen
